For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Scripture tells us that all of the promises that YHWH made, including the promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, were fulfilled in Yeshua Messiah.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
Yeshua Messiah is the fulfillment of all of YHWH’s promises.
Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.
What were YHWH’s promises to Abraham?
- YHWH would make Abraham a great nation (Genesis 12)
- So, this nation is under Yeshua Messiah as He is the fulfillment of the promise
- YHWH would bless those who bless him and curse those who dishonor him (Genesis 12)
- Those who believe in Yeshua Messiah will be blessed, and those who deny Him will be cursed
- Through Abraham all the families of the earth will be blessed, (Genesis 12)
- Through Yeshua all mankind has the opportunity for salvation in YHWH’s Kingdom.
- Abraham would be a blessing to mankind (Genesis 12)
- All of mankind is blessed through Yeshua Messiah, Abraham’s offspring
- Galatians 3:7-9 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
- All of mankind is blessed through Yeshua Messiah, Abraham’s offspring
- The land would be given to Abraham’s offspring (Genesis 17)
- The land was given to Yeshua Messiah for His holy nation that will rule for a thousand years
- Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.
- Revelation 20:4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
- Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
- The land was given to Yeshua Messiah for His holy nation that will rule for a thousand years
Therefore, the nation, the blessings, and the land were given to Yeshua Messiah, who is the Offspring of Abraham.
We see these same promises being given to Abraham’s son, Isaac, in Genesis 26, and his grandson, Jacob, in Genesis 28. In this way, YHWH gives us the line from which Messiah Yeshua will come. YHWH gives Jacob a new name, Israel, and his twelve sons become the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel.
- Reuben
- Simeon
- Levi
- Judah
- Dan
- Naphtali
- Gad
- Asher
- Issachar
- Zebulun
- Joseph
- Ephraim
- Manasseh
- Benjamin
These are the people of Israel “of the flesh”. Note that the tribe of Judah, the Judaites (Jews), are only one of the twelve tribes. All Jews are Israelites, but not all Israelites are Jews. Paul distinguishes between this Israel and another that he calls Israel “of the promise”.
Romans 9:6-8 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
We’re going to pause here and say a few words about a theology called, “Replacement Theology”, which developed through the early centuries of the Church. But, before we define what Replacement Theology is, we’ll cover what it is not. Replacement Theology is not the belief that the Jews were replaced by Christians, and it is not broadly the replacement of anything with something else. It is the theology of the replacement of a very specific thing with another very specific thing. This is very important to understand. Just because a theology says that one thing is replaced by another thing does not automatically make that theology Replacement Theology, and it does not automatically make that theology wrong.
Now, what Replacement Theology is, according to Bible Hub:
Replacement Theology-also called Supersessionism-typically holds that the Christian Church has fully and permanently replaced Israel in God’s plan. According to proponents of this view, God’s covenant promises to Israel now find their exclusive fulfillment in the Church. While various streams of historical theology have introduced different nuances to this idea, the central claim remains that the Church, as the “new Israel,” has superseded national Israel’s role in the divine covenantal relationship.
Did you see the word “Jew” anywhere in that definition? No, because it is not there. Did you see the word “Israeli” anywhere in that definition? Also no, because it is not there either. That is because Replacement Theology has nothing to do with the Jews or the modern State of Israel. Replacement Theology is the belief that Biblical Israel was replaced by the Gentile Church. And it is false doctrine that began to infiltrate the early Church when there was no State of Israel in existence.
Scripture tells us that the Church was joined with Biblical Israel, it became a part of Biblical Israel, it did not replace Biblical Israel.
Peter tells us, in the Book of Acts, that anyone who does not listen to the words of Yeshua Messiah will be cut off from YHWH’s set-apart people, Israel, and he was quoting from chapter eighteen of Deuteronomy.
Acts 3:22-23 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.’
It is a dangerous thing to ignore the words of the apostles to support your own false theology. It is equally dangerous to ignore their words out of fear because of your misunderstanding of a false theology. Many Christians hear the term “Replacement Theology” and understand that it is false doctrine, but then fearfully ignore all of scripture that describes Christians being grafted into Israel and unbelieving Jews being cut-off from Israel; because they ignorantly believe that this is Replacement Theology. All people, whether Gentile or Jew, have the same opportunity to be a part of Biblical Israel through faith in Yeshua Messiah.
Galatians 3:27-29 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
You see, there was a replacement of sorts, the replacement of Israel of the flesh, with Israel of the promise. But all those who are in Israel of the flesh are given the opportunity to be in Israel of the promise. In fact, they were given the opportunity first!
Peter told the Jews:
Acts 3:25-26 You [the Jews] are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’ God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.”
Paul mourned for the Jews, his kinsmen, who rejected their Messiah:
Romans 9:1-8 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
The Jews who reject Messiah Yeshua may be Israelites genetically (of the flesh), but they are not Israelites Biblically (of the promise). Yeshua Messiah has reunited Judah and Ephraim (also called the House of Judah and the the House of Israel) through their faith in Him. The marriage covenant, which Yeshua Messiah confirmed on the cross, has created the nation of Israel, and Yeshua Messiah is its King. This is the true Biblical Israel.
Israel of the flesh was a foreshadow of Israel of the promise.
Colossians 3:11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
So, Jews are not, as individuals, being replaced, but rather they are making the choice individually to not be part of Israel of the promise, because Israel of the promise is Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus). Everyone in Christ Jesus is in Israel of the promise. Everyone who rejects Christ Jesus, regardless of genetics, is not in Israel of the promise.
Romans 11:1-10 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” But what is God’s reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.” And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and bend their backs forever.”
YHWH explained to the prophet Elijah that He kept all of Israel of the flesh, and did not destroy them, for the sake of the remnant of believers within them. That remnant was chosen by YHWH, through His grace, and it was nothing that they had earned. Paul recites this account of Elijah’s to say that the Jews of his time were being kept around for the same reason, for the sake of the remnant that are chosen by YHWH.
The Jews of the first century had stumbled over the Stumbling Stone (Yeshua Messiah).
Matthew 21:42-44 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”
Oh my! Is this Replacement Theology that Yeshua Messiah is preaching?! Let’s be careful to not contradict Yeshua or accuse him of false doctrine. The Kingdom of God will be taken away from the Jews and given to the Gentiles and Jews who believe in Yeshua Messiah.
Peter also makes it clear that God’s holy nation are those who believe in Yeshua Messiah, and that anyone not believing in Yeshua Messiah is not of God’s holy nation, Israel.
1 Peter 2:4-10 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
God’s holy nation is Israel of the promise, which is all who believe in Yeshua Messiah.
Going back to the 11th chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans, he clarifies further why the Jews stumbled.
Romans 11:11-15 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean! Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?
YHWH had the Jews stumble over Yeshua Messiah in order that the Gentiles would have the opportunity for salvation, but Paul’s hope is that some of them will be saved. Note that Paul says, “some of them”, not all of them. This tells us that the Jews will not be saved because of their genetic lineage back to Abraham. The Christian leaders, pastors, and seminary professors who teach that the modern State of Israel are God’s people are teaching false doctrine, contrary to scripture.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
No one who denies Jesus is the Christ has salvation, without salvation you cannot be part of God’s people, His holy nation.
Paul continues his explanation of who Biblical Israel is through the analogy of the Olive Tree. Some Christian teachers believe that this Olive Tree is Abraham, rather than Israel, however, nowhere in scripture is Abraham ever referred to as an Olive Tree, but Israel is many times. Please see our study, The Olive Tree: Israel, for more information on that.
Romans 11:16-24 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.
Perhaps you are beginning to understand why the Jewish people of the State of Israel are not God’s chosen people, but rather, they are a mission field. They need to be brought home to their Messiah. This was Paul’s hope, it is my hope, and it is YHWH’s hope!
Romans 11:25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
The word “fullness” is the Greek word “pleroma”, which means completion. A partial hardening has been put on Israel of the flesh, which includes both the House of Judah and the House of Israel, not just the Jews, as the House of Israel had been scattered for their unbelief (partial hardening) many centuries earlier. This partial hardening will stay in place until all of the Gentiles have been brought into Israel of the promise, which is another way of saying that the gospel will be preached to the whole world before Yeshua Messiah returns.
Some of these Gentiles are descendants of the House of Israel, which is why Paul goes on to say that this is how all of Israel will be saved.
Romans 11:26-27 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
Yeshua fulfilled this promise on the cross for all those who accept His free gift of salvation. Some Christian teachers believe in a mass forced conversion when Yeshua Messiah returns, but YHWH never forces or compels anyone to obey Him. He has given everyone the freewill to choose between obedience and disobedience. If He was going to force obedience, don’t you think He would have done that to start with in the Garden?
Yes, many of the Jews who practice Talmudic Judaism will likely realize their error when Yeshua comes on the clouds with power and great glory. In fact, scripture tells us they will mourn for the one whom they pierced, but it will not be all of them, and by then the modern State of Israel will have already been destroyed.
Romans 11:28-29 As regards the gospel, they [Jews] are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
“The gifts of God are irrevocable” means that no one else can take them away from an individual, however, an individual can reject them, as so many do, hence Paul’s “great sorrow and unceasing anguish” for the Jewish people.
Romans 11:30-36 For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
So, what we have established is that all of the promises that YHWH made to Abraham were fulfilled in Yeshua Messiah, that He is Biblical Israel, and all those who believe in Him are of His body and therefore also Biblical Israel, and that no one who denies Yeshua is the Messiah can be part of Biblical Israel.
Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
There is a prevalent understanding among modern Christians that the modern State of Israel is God’s holy nation, and the Jewish people His chosen people. Let’s take a quick look at the modern State of Israel and see if they could qualify as Biblical Israel.
According to Wikipedia, less that 2% of the State of Israel are Christians. That means that more than 98% of the population denies that Jesus is the Christ. What does John have to say about that?
1 John 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
Also from Wikipedia: “Named ‘the best gay city in the world’ by American Airlines, Tel Aviv is one of the most popular destinations for LGBT tourists internationally, with a large LGBT community. Approximately 25% of Tel Aviv’s population identify as gay.”
From The Jewish Chronicle: How the Holy Land got a pork habit. ‘White meat’ is widely sold in Israel.
Israel is known for its culinary diversity, but one item now being stocked in trendy Tel Aviv cafés is an indicator of how far secular Israel has separated from its religious traditions.
While pork is certainly not new to Israel – in fact, the industry pre-dates the state – the pork on Tel Aviv menus and in nationwide supermarkets is still worthy of a double take.
There are two pork industries in Israel: the large one that provides steady meat supplies to a population of Russian immigrants and foreign workers, and a second for secular Israelis for whom sausages and pork ribs have become part of daily eating.
Meanwhile, many Israelis who have travelled widely throughout the world after their army service have begun to see the traditional Jewish food taboo as an out-of-date tradition.
Does this sound like God’s holy nation, a people set-apart for Himself, His chosen people? Because, to me, it sounds like a nation of confused and hurting people (like the rest of the world) who need to know Yeshua Messiah. It sounds like a mission field, not a people guaranteed their salvation because of their genetic heritage.
What does scripture say about the Jewish people being special because they are the genetic offspring of Abraham? When John the Baptist was baptizing people in the Jordan River, he had some harsh words to say.
Matthew 3:5-10 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
And Paul said in his letter to the Romans:
Romans 2:28-29 For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly [of the flesh], nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly [of the promise], and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.
Some Christians, regardless of all this information, still believe that the modern State of Israel is the nation that all nations will come against in the end times, whom God will protect because they are His people. Let’s explore the scriptures to see what YHWH has to say.
Zechariah 12:1-11 The oracle of the word of YHWH concerning Israel: Thus declares YHWH, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.
Who is the stone Zechariah is talking about?
Matthew 21:42-44 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”
The stone is Yeshua Messiah, and in our study Jerusalem: A Messianic Prophecy, we discovered that the name Jerusalem means: he will make himself a poor destitute man to make amends, to make restitution, to make an end, to finish, to perfect, to restore, to make all to be at peace. Therefore, Jerusalem is also Yeshua Messiah, which means that the Israel in this passage is also Yeshua Messiah. “And all the nations of the earth will gather against it [Yeshua Messiah].” This prophecy is talking about the battle of Armageddon, when the armies of the nations come against the army of Yeshua’s nation, not the modern State of Israel.
Let’s look at another passage in Zechariah that continues the description of the time leading up to the Battle of Armageddon.
Zechariah 14:1-5 Behold, a day is coming for YHWH, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then YHWH will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then YHWH my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
YHWH brings the nations against the city of Jerusalem to destroy it, in judgment. He does not protect the people of the State of Israel. Then, Yeshua destroys the armies of the nations after they destroy the earthly city of Jerusalem. After that, a New Jerusalem will come out of Heaven and rest above the site of the previous city. This is the Jerusalem that is Yeshua Messiah. That may be a new concept to you, so let’s explore further.
Zechariah 14:6-11 On that day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. And there shall be a unique day, which is known to YHWH, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light. On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter. And YHWH will be king over all the earth. On that day YHWH will be one and his name one. The whole land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem shall remain aloft on its site from the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. And it shall be inhabited, for there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction. Jerusalem shall dwell in security.
There’s a few things to look at in this passage. First, who do we know is the Living Water?
Jeremiah 17:13 O YHWH, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken YHWH, the fountain of living water.
John 4:10-14 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 7:37-39 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Revelation 7:13-17 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. “Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
The Living Waters, that come from YHWH/Yeshua is the Holy Spirit, and it will be flowing out from the second Jerusalem.
Zechariah said that Jerusalem would remain “aloft”, this is the Hebrew word “ra’am”, and it means to rise or be lifted up or aloft, and this verse in Zechariah 14 is the only place it’s found in scripture. That it will remain lifted up could be meant figuratively, that it would be above other cities as the ruling city, however, Jerusalem isn’t lifted up above other cities, so it wouldn’t make any sense to say that it would remain so. We believe that it is meant literally because it does not say that it will be lifted up, rather that it will remain lifted up or aloft. The current city of Jerusalem will be destroyed, and this second Jerusalem will come down from Heaven on the same location, but will not quite touch the earth, it will remain aloft.
The nation that all nations will come against is Yeshua messiah and His elect, not the Jews and the modern State of Israel.
As far as YHWH protecting the Jewish people and the State of Israel, what does scripture say?
Isaiah 60:12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste.
Their genetic lineage means nothing, if they do not repent. The modern State of Israel is not serving YHWH, they are a secular state with over 98% of the population having rejected Messiah Yeshua. They will perish. They will be utterly laid waste.
God’s holy nation is not centered in one geographical location today, and it will not be until Yeshua returns and performs the Greater Exodus. Then He will bring His people together as united Israel, Israel of the promise.
There is no country or ethnicity or culture on this earth that is superior to any other. The belief that there is a superior one is racism. We do not subscribe to racism. We all have the same promise, and we all need to willfully choose to accept the free gift of salvation through Yeshua Messiah.
In every nation in the world there are people who do their best to live good lives, who care about one another, and who want to live peacefully with one another. However, the leadership of all of the nations of the world are evil. They are all doing the work of their father, Satan. The leadership, or you could say governing class do not want peace. They are parasites, existing off of the labour of others, lovers of money, lovers of power, and they will do anything to hang on to and grow that money and power. Their greed and lust keeps the peace from the earth.
It can be difficult, when looking at the state our world is in, to resist the urge to pick a side in ongoing conflicts, to choose between one government and another. It is important to realize, though, that there are no good guys. So, I ask you, should a follower of Yeshua Messiah, one called to be a light in the darkness and a beacon to the nations, choose a side between evil and evil?
We believe the best course is to choose the side of the people instead. They are being hurt by the evil parasitic class, on both sides of the conflicts. Therefore, let’s love all people, and pray for Yeshua’s soon and swift return.
May you be blessed by this study. Shalom.
