For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
The Word of God tells us that God is One… not three. Yet, the Word also shows YHWH taking different modes, three of which are as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But does this necessarily mean that He can only take three forms? Who are we to limit YHWH Elohim? Perhaps He does have only three modes, or perhaps He has an unlimited number, it is not for us to say!
There are aspects of YHWH’s nature that we as human beings are not capable of understanding. Our brains simply cannot comprehend the enormity of Him and we just have to accept this fact. But what we can know, is what He has revealed to us about Himself through His Word.
His Name
Elohim is the Hebrew word for God. The singular word el usually indicates a false god (a lower case g god in English). The plural of el is elohim, which can indicate multiple false gods, or the one true God (an upper case g God in English). In scripture, the translators use context to determine if elohim is meant to be God or false gods.
The tetragrammaton, YHWH, is Strong’s h3068 יהוה YHWH: from H1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal. (Note: Hebrew is read from right to left.)
Exodus 3:14-15 And Elohim said unto Moses, I AMh1961 THAT I AMh1961: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto to the children of Israel, I AMh1961 hath sent me unto you. And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt you say unto the children of Israel, YHWH, Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is My Name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. (RSB)
The Hebrew word translated “I am” is Strong’s h1961 הָיָה haw-yaw: a primitive root (compare H1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary):—beacon, altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, follow, happen, have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, use.
Strong’s h1933 הָוָה hâvâh or haw-wah: a primitive root; to breathe; to be (in the sense of existence).
These two words together make up God’s sacred Name. The first word was made up of the letters hey-yod-hey היה, and the second word is hey-waw-hey הוה. In more modern times the waw has been changed to vav, which is why Strong’s pronounces it with a v instead of a w. However, Hebrew is an ancient language and YHWH’s name is ancient, therefore the letter should be pronounced as a w. Combining the two words היה and הוה, makes יהוה — yod-hey-waw-hey. YHWH’s sacred Name means to breathe into existence.
From the Restoration Study Bible (RSB), page 106, there are footnotes on these verses that read:
I AM – This phrase is derived from the Hebrew word hayah, the three-letter root word from which the name “Yahweh” is derived.
I AM THAT I AM – This phrase has been translated in various forms. The vulgate renders this phrase, “I am who am.” The Septuagint as, “I am He who exists.” The Arabic paraphrases them, “The Eternal,” “who passes not away.” The Targum of Jonathan and the Jerusalem Targum render the words as: “He who spake, and the world was; who spake, and all things existed.” In all instances, this phrase connotes the absolute existence and unchanging nature of Yahweh.
Yahweh – the name of the Heavenly Father, composed from the four Hebrew letters: yod, hay, waw, hay (Ps. 68:4; Isa, 42:8; Jer. 15:21). Yahweh is His Name forever and is the verb of existence. He is the Supreme Ruler over all of creation. Worship is to be directed toward Him and He is to be venerated above all (Ex. 20:5; Deut. 6:4, 13; 2Kings 17:36; Ps. 99:9; Matt. 4:10). His people are commanded to use and revere His Name (Ex. 20:7; Lev. 22:2; Deut. 28:58; Ps. 105:1; Isa. 52:6; Matt. 6:9; John 17:26).
Power of Salvation
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass that everyone who callsh7121 on the name of YHWH shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as YHWH has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom YHWH calls.
The Hebrew word translated “calls” is Strong’s h7121, קָרָא kaw-raw’: a primitive root; to call out to (i.e. properly, address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications):—bewray (self), that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim(-ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say.
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who callsg1941 upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The Greek word translated “calls” is Strong’s g1941, ἐπικαλέομαι ep-ee-kal-eh’-om-ahee: to entitle; by implication, to invoke (for aid, worship, testimony, decision, etc.):—appeal (unto), call (on, upon), surname.
In Hebrew, to call on YHWH’s Name means to preach, pronounce, and proclaim it; and in Greek, to call on His Name means to invoke it for aid, worship, or testimony. All who preach, pronounce, proclaim, and invoke YHWH’s Name will have salvation. YHWH’s Name is powerful!
In Exodus 3:15, YHWH told Moses: this is My Name forever! How shocking that mainstream Christians have removed His Name from His Word and instead call Him by the name of the false god, Ba’al (means “lord”). Using “the Lord” as a title is not wrong, but using the LORD in place of His proper name is!
An Identifier
Revelation 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
Daniel 9:19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.
To Be Feared
Deuteronomy 29:58 If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome Name, YHWH your God, then YHWH will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting.
Psalm 112:1 Praise YHWH! Blessed is the man who fears YHWH, who greatly delights in his commandments!
Not Taken in Vain
Exodus 20:7 You shall not take the Name of YHWH your God in vainh7723, for YHWH will not hold him guiltless who takes His Name in vainh7723.
The Hebrew word translated “in vain” is Strong’s h7723 שָׁוְא shawv; or שַׁו shav: evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjective), uselessness (as deceptive, objective; also adverbially, in vain):—false(-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.
To take YHWH’s Name in vain means to make it useless or worthless. This is what is done when we swear to a lie in His Name, and when we remove His Name from His Word and replace it with “the LORD”.
Jeremiah prophesized that YHWH’s name would be replaced with the name of His enemy, Ba’al.
Jeremiah 23:26-27 How long shall there be lies in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart, who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal?
The Hebrew word ba’al is Strong’s h1167 בַּעַל baʻal: from H1166; a master; hence, a husband, or (figuratively) owner (often used with another noun in modifications of this latter sense):— archer, babbler, bird, captain, chief man, confederate, have to do, dreamer, those to whom it is due, furious, those that are given to it, great, hairy, he that hath it, have, horseman, husband, lord, man, married, master, person, sworn, they of.
There is a difference between a title and a name. While the title ‘lord’ is used to address both YHWH and Yeshua in scripture; nevertheless, replacing ‘YHWH” with ‘the LORD’ is attributing the name ‘Lord’ to our Heavenly Father. It is crucial to understand that the name ‘Lord’ is the false god Ba’al.
Pronunciation
From the Encyclopaedia Judaica, vol. 7, p. 680, we learn:
“The true pronunciation of the name YHWH was never lost. Several early Greek writers of the Christian Church testify that the name was pronounced ‘Yahweh’.
“In the early Middle Ages, when the consonantal text of the Bible was supplied with vowel points to facilitate its correct traditional reading, the vowel points for Adonai with one variation – a sheva (short ‘e’) with the first yod [Y] of YHWH instead of the hataf-patah (short ‘a’) under the aleph of Adonai – was used for YHWH, thus producing the form YeHoWaH. When Christian scholars of Europe first began to study Hebrew they did not understand what this really meant, and they introduced the hybrid name ‘Jehovah’.”
From the Encyclopaedia Britannica, 15th ed., vol. x, p. 786, we learn:
“Early Christian writers, such as Clement of Alexandria in the 2nd century, had used the form Yahweh, thus this pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was never really lost. Greek transcriptions also indicated that YHWH should be pronounced Yahweh.”
From Eerdman’s Bible Dictionary, 1979 p. 478, we read:
“The pronunciation Yahweh is indicated by transliteration of the name into Greek in early Christian literature, in the form iaoue (Clement of Alexandria) or iabe (Theodoret; by this time Gk. b had the pronunciation of v)… Strictly speaking, Yahweh is the only ‘name’ of God. In Genesis wherever the word sem (‘name’) is associated with the divine being that name is Yahweh.”
[In Greek, the “ia” is pronounced “yah”; and the “ou” is pronounced “w”.]
From The New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, “Yahweh,” p. 471, we learn:
“Such a conclusion, giving ‘Yahweh’ as the pronunciation of the name, is confirmed by the testimony of the Fathers and gentile writers, where the forms IAO, Yaho, Yaou, Yahouai, and Yahoue appear. Especially important is the statement of Theodoret in relation to Ex. Ivi., when he says: ‘the Samaritans call it [the tetragrammaton] “Yabe,” the Jews call it “Aia”…'”
We read from Dr. Anson R. Rainy, a professor of Ancient and Near Eastern Cultures and Semitic Linguistics at Tel Aviv University, in Biblical Archaeology Review, Sept.-Oct. 1994:
“I mentioned the evidence from Greek papyri found in Egypt. The best of these is Iaouee (London Papyri, xlvi, 446-483). Clement of Alexandria said, ‘The mystic name which is called the Tetragrammaton… is pronounced Iaoue, which means, “Who is, and who shall be.”‘”

His Character
Compassionate
Exodus 33:19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘YHWH.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
Psalm 84:11-12 For YHWH God is a sun and shield; YHWH bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. YHWH Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.
Psalm 103:13-14 As a father shows compassion to his children, so YHWH shows compassion to those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
Psalm 116:5 YHWH is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
James 5:11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
Just
Job 12:22 He uncovers the deeps out of darkness and brings deep darkness to light.
Psalm 50:6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for He is a God of justice.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time for every matter and for every work.
Isaiah 30:18-19 Therefore YHWH waits to be gracious to you, and therefore He exalts himself to show mercy to you. For YHWH is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, He answers you.
Hebrews 10:30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
Avenging
Deuteronomy 32:43 Rejoice with him, O heavens; bow down to him, all gods, for he avenges the blood of his children and takes vengeance on his adversaries. He repays those who hate him and cleanses his people’s land.
Psalm 94:1-2 O YHWH, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth! Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve!
Nahum 1:2-3 YHWH is a jealous and avenging God; YHWH is avenging and wrathful; YHWH takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. YHWH is slow to anger and great in power, and YHWH will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.
- YHWH will not clear the guilty of their sins. The guilty are those who have not repented; all those who repent and begin living in obedience have had their sins forgiven and are no longer guilty. Those who refuse to repent, who continue living in disobedience, will not be forgiven.
Romans 12:19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.
Jealous
The only One who has a right to be jealous is YHWH!
Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I YHWH your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
- “Visiting the iniquity of the fathers” means withholding the blessing that comes with living a life in obedience to YHWH’s Torah. It does not mean the loss of salvation, as YHWH says elsewhere in scripture that everyone will be judged based on their own lives.
Exodus 34:14 for you shall worship no other god, for YHWH, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God,
Deuteronomy 4:23-24 Take care, lest you forget the covenant of YHWH your God, which He made with you, and make a carved image, the form of anything that YHWH your God has forbidden you. For YHWH your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Deuteronomy 6:15 for YHWH your God in your midst is a jealous God—lest the anger of YHWH your God be kindled against you, and He destroy you from off the face of the earth.
Joshua 24:19 But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve YHWH, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions or your sins.“
2 Corinthians 11:2 For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
Faithful
2 Samuel 22:32-34 For who is God, but YHWH? And who is a rock, except our God? This God is my strong refuge and has made my way blameless. He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
Psalm 18:30 This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
Psalm 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
His Nature
Omniscient (All-Knowing)
Job 21:22 Will any teach God knowledge, seeing that He judges those who are on high?

Romans 11:33-34 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?”
Omnipotent (All-Powerful)
Job 12:10 In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
Psalm 93:4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, YHWH on high is mighty!
Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? YHWH is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
Romans 1:20 For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Omnipresent (All-Present)
Psalm 139:7-10 Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of YHWH are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Eternal

Daniel 4:34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored Him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation;
Unchanging
Malachi 3:6 For I YHWH do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Numbers 23:19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Creator
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Exodus 20:11 For in six days YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore YHWH blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? YHWH is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
Nehemiah 9:6 You are YHWH, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and You preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships You.
Colossians 1:16-20 For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent. For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Love
1 John 4:7-9 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
Romans 5:8 but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us,
Light
Psalm 44:3 for not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm save them, but Your Right Hand and Your Arm, and the light of your face, for you delighted in them.
Ezekiel 43:2 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east. And the sound of His coming was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone with His glory.

Revelation 21:23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.
Theophanies
YHWH made Himself visible to people over sixty times in scripture and in different forms, these are called theophanies. The majority of the instances, He came in a vision or a dream, but in at least ten appearances, He took a physical (corporeal) form for a short duration.
- Genesis 16:9-13 God appeared to Hagar as the Angel of YHWH.
- Genesis 18:1-33 God appeared to Abraham and Sarah at Mamre in a form like a man.
- Genesis 22:11-14 God again appeared to Abraham on Mount Moriah as the Angel of YHWH.
- Genesis 32:24-43 YHWH appeared to Jacob at Peniel, in a form like a man, where they wrestled.
- Exodus 3:2-4:22 He appeared to Moses as a burning bush.
- Joshua 5:13-15 YHWH appeared to Joshua in the form like a man—the captain of the host of YHWH.
- Judges 6:11-24 God appeared to Gideon as the Angel of YHWH.
- Judges 13:2-23 He appeared to Samson’s parents as the Angel of YHWH.
- Daniel 3:23-29 YHWH was in the fiery furnace, in a form like a man.
- Daniel 10-12 YHWH came to Daniel as one having the appearance of a man.
The word “angel” means messenger. When the Angel of YHWH spoke, He did so as YHWH, so we know that in these instances it was YHWH Himself that delivered His own messages.
Genesis 16:10-13 The Angel of YHWH also said to her, “I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.” And the Angel of YHWH said to her, “Behold, you are pregnant and shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because YHWH has listened to your affliction. He shall be a wild donkey of a man, his hand against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.” So she called the name of YHWH who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” for she said, “Truly here I have seen Him who looks after me.”
Genesis 22:11-12 But the Angel of YHWH called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
Judges 6:11-24 And YHWH turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” And he said to him, “Please, YHWH, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And YHWH said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.” And he said to him, “If now I have found favor in Your eyes, then show me a sign that it is You who speak with me.
Judges 13:21-23 The Angel of YHWH appeared no more to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that He was the Angel of YHWH. And Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, for we have seen God.” But his wife said to him, “If YHWH had meant to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering at our hands, or shown us all these things, or now announced to us such things as these.”
Given the many theophanies that YHWH has taken, both physical and spiritual, we do not limit Him to just three.
Oneness Theology
YHWH uses our inter-human relationships as an analogy for His relationship with us. For example, marriage is like the relationship YHWH has with His holy nation, Israel; and, His relationship with us as individuals is like a Father with His children.
The relationship between YHWH and Yeshua Messiah is likened to Father and Son because it is a relationship that we are familiar with, which helps us to have a rudimentary grasp of what is far too complex for us to fully comprehend—that is the nature of God. We must understand the titles are analogous. That is to say that they should not be taken in the most literal sense of what a human father is to his son or vice versa. For example, a human father cannot be one with his human son. But God is not human, He is God, and He is One.
Oneness Theology is the belief that God is One. It is in opposition to the Doctrine of the Trinity, which teaches that He is three.
We have an analogy for the nature of YHWH that fits scripture. You can take any passage used by trinitarians to defend their doctrine, and it will make more sense through the lens of this analogy:
- YHWH is like the ocean, far too vast for any container to hold.
- Yeshua is like a glass mason jar filled completely with ocean water. He is fully YHWH held within the container of a human body.
- The Holy Spirit is the small bit of ocean water in each one of millions of glass mason jars. He is fully YHWH held within the bodies of the individual believers.
The full majesty of YHWH is too great for the human eye to behold, or the human brain to comprehend, or the human body to contain. So, while Yeshua Messiah contained the full deity of YHWH, his human body could not hold all of Him; and the Holy Spirit who lives in us is the full deity of YHWH, but cannot be all of Him. Therefore, YHWH exists as the Father even while simultaneously existing as the Son and the Holy Spirit, otherwise, where did the rest of Him go? Since the Father exists even while the Son also exists, in order for them to be distinct and separate persons, as the Doctrine of the Trinity claims, they would need to each have their own minds, their own hearts, and their own souls.
Trinitarianism says that God (YHWH) is three distinct and separate ‘persons’, which would require Him to have three distinct and separate hearts, minds, and souls. How could He have only one heart if He is three persons? How could He have one mind if He is three persons? How could He have one soul if He is three persons? In order for YHWH to be three persons, He would have to have three hearts, minds, and souls. Scripture, however, says that God has one heart, one mind, and one soul.
Genesis 8:21 And when YHWH smelled the pleasing aroma, YHWH said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.
1 Samuel 2:35 And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind. And I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed forever.
Note that YHWH did not say, “in my hearts,” indicating three hearts; but rather, “in my heart,” indicating only one heart.
Jeremiah 32:35 They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
How many minds does YHWH say that He has? Just one.
Leviticus 26:30 And I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols, and my soul will abhor you.
Does YHWH say He has three souls? No, He says He has one soul. YHWH has one heart, one mind, one soul; therefore, He is one person.

Trinitarianism says that the Father is NOT the Son, the Son is NOT the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is NOT the Father. They are all God (YHWH), but they are not one with each other.
What does scripture tell us? Yeshua Messiah (the Son) says He is one with the Father.
John 10:30 I and the Father are One.
The prophet Isaiah also tells us that Yeshua (the Son) is the Father.
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The child, who is the Son, shall be called Everlasting Father.
There are many other examples in scripture that indicate that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. Let’s look at a few of them.
John 14:6-7 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
Yeshua clearly stated that to see Him (the Son) is synonymous with seeing the Father.
John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
An orphan is someone whose parent has died (not their older brother). Yeshua was about to die. He promised not to leave them as orphans. Therefore His death would leave them as orphans. Therefore He is the Father. Then He says, “I will come to you,” referring to the Holy Spirit that descended 10 days after Yeshua’s ascension. The word “I” means that He is the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Yeshua Messiah (the Son) is both the Father and the Holy Spirit. They are not three separate ‘persons’.
Colossians 2:8-10 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
In Yeshua Messiah, the “whole fullness of deity dwells bodily“. Our analogy matches this statement perfectly. “(A)nd you have been filled in him”, we are filled with the Holy Spirit at baptism. Therefore, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one.
Acts 20:28 Therefore, take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit placed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased through His own blood.
Paul’s speech at Ephesus tells us that the Holy Spirit purchased the Church of God through His own blood! Therefore, the Holy Spirit and the Son are one.
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”
Looking through the lens of our ocean analogy, these verses make perfect sense. The Holy Spirit is the part of the ocean that enters into human beings, therefore, the Holy Spirit came into Mary and the power of the Most High created a baby inside of her that was completely filled with the ocean (Holy Spirit). The honest conclusion to draw here is that the Holy Spirit and the Son are one.
Romans 8:9-11 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Paul tells us here that the Holy Spirit, Spirit of Christ (the Son), Spirit of Him who raised Yeshua from the dead (the Father) are all one and the same.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul tells us that it was the Father who raised Yeshua from the dead.
Ephesians 1:17-20 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
The Holy Spirit, the Son, and the Father are all one!
If a person was to use scripture alone to understand the nature of YHWH, they would never reach the conclusion that He has three persons. They would reach the logical conclusion that He has One.
1 Corinthians 14:33a For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.
Finding YHWH
The following verses tell us how to find YHWH:
Psalms 10:4 In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek Him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”
- The wicked do not seek YHWH, instead they say there is no God.
Psalm 9:10 And those who know Your Name put their trust in You, for You, O YHWH, have not forsaken those who seek You.
- Those who seek Him, know His Name and put their trust in Him.
Job 23:3 Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat!
- Those who find YHWH Elohim will come before His throne on the day of the second resurrection.
- Only those who have salvation will come before YHWH in the white-throne judgment.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- Those who come to YHWH Elohim will find rest.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.
- If you are seeking YHWH Elohim, you clearly must know that He exists. Who looks for something they don’t believe is real?
- We find Him when we look for Him, through faith.
- Faith is: the confidence—displayed through our obedience to Torah—that YHWH will fulfill all of His promises.
The way to find God is to seek Him and know His Name. His name is not the LORD. His name is YHWH!
YHWH’s Ultimate Goal
YHWH Elohim wants you to spend eternity with Him in the New Jerusalem. That is His ultimate Goal.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
We just need to patiently wait on Him, as He has been so patient with us!
Habakkuk 2:3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Lamentations 3:26 It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of YHWH.
Zephaniah 3:8 “Therefore wait for Me,” declares YHWH, “for the day when I rise up to seize the prey. For My decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them My indignation, all My burning anger; for in the fire of My jealousy all the earth shall be consumed.”
Isaiah 64:4 From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for Him.
Isaiah 25:9 It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, that He might save us. This is YHWH; we have waited for Him; let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
Micah 7:7 But as for me, I will look to YHWH; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
And when we wait patiently on Him, He will come and take us to be with Him!
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Isaiah 60:20 Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for YHWH will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of YHWH forever.
Psalms 68:19-20 Blessed be YHWH, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah. Our God is a God of salvation, and to YHWH, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of YHWH God is upon Me, because YHWH has anointed Me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of YHWH’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of YHWH, that He may be glorified.
May you be blessed by this study. Shalom.
